A chat with Marga Villarejo, Director of the Hotel Arrey-Alella

Set in the picturesque village of Alella, Hotel Arrey-Alella features a renovated mid-nineteenth century house, a restaurant, a seasonal outdoor pool and a sun terrace where guests can enjoy a drink at the bar. The charming village is known for its cava, wines and perfumes and is also a commuter town for nearby Barcelona.

What is the concept of the hotel?

We have created a peaceful hotel totally integrated into the Alella surroundings. It is comfortable and welcoming and the main house and garden give the hotel its personality. We offer clients a warm environment and a personalised service which makes it feel like we are a family.

Who designed the interiors?

Everyone was involved in the decision process. However, when you are faced with a project of this size where you have to conserve and restore a house with these characteristics and at the same time integrate a completely new building, you also need the help of a group of professional architects and designers. Each individual was able to add their own expertise to the project. The owners had a clear image of what they wanted and those of us in this sector have added to the design.

What makes Alella so special?

Its privileged location, being only a few kilometres from Barcelona. It has everything you need to enjoy the weather and its incredible surroundings. On one side you have the sea and on the other side the mountains and vineyards with stunning views.

When is the best time to visit?

There is no best time to visit, I think that depends on the needs of the client. The hotel has been designed for relaxing, somewhere you can enjoy as a couple, as a family or as a business person.

Who do you think the hotel appeals to?

Our clientele are those who live in nearby cities such as Barcelona. Monday to Friday we accommodate business clients and on the weekends there is a more varied clientele.

What facilities and services do you offer?

We have 37 rooms, all of them with natural light and most with their own balcony, 2 meeting rooms, a wine cellar, spectacular gardens with a swimming pool and a fabulous restaurant offering superb cuisine.
