Mallorca Insider Guides: let the Lucas Fox team show you their tips and advice for when visiting this beautiful island

Es Raco Des Teix

MALLCA-Es Raco des Teix 1

“Es Raco Des Teix is also known as Josef´s and is a Michelin starred institution run by famous Mallorcan chef Josef Sauerscheland and his wife Leonor. It’s located in the mountain village of Deiá, which I first read about in an interview with one of the villages many celebrity residents, Sir Andrew Lloyd-Webber. The terrace here is very romantic, surrounded by stunning mountain scenery. The food is spectacular, I love Josef’s wild combinations such as lobster ravioli with peach, tarragon and a port sauce. A place for real foodies.”

Xelini

MALLCA-Xelini 1

“Xelini is known in the tiny village of Deiá as “the tapas bar” and is great for parties and big groups – especially children. It’s hard to go wrong here, with the owner Pedro known as “El Rey de Tapas” (the king of tapas).”

Casa Fernando

MALLCA-Casa Fernando 1

“Casa Fernando is located in the fisherman’s district, just back from the Ciudad Jardín promenade on the outskirts of Palma de Mallorca. Now in their third decade, this traditional seafood bistro doesn’t offer guests a menu. Instead, you simply select your fish of choice from their counter and it is prepared and grilled to perfection. The most simple, delicious food on the island!”

Es Molí d’en Bou

MALLCA-Es Moli Den Bou 3

“Sleek restaurant Es Molí d’en Bou was awarded a Michelin star in 2004, and creates culinary art based on traditional Mallorcan dishes. For lovers of gastronomy, chef Tomeu Caldentey’s tasting menu is extremely original, and changes daily. It’s worth noting that the restaurant’s dinner service is adults only with children under 10 not allowed.”

Es Guix

MALLCA-Es Guix 4

“Es Guix is an isolated mountain restaurant set in a converted hunting lodge hidden at the end of a rough dirt track, near an ancient monastery. They serve the best suckling pig to be found in Mallorca. Popular with foodies and families on the island, the restaurant even has its own (slightly chilly) spring-water swimming pool, and is well worth the drive.”

Es Caló des Moro

MALLCA-Es Calo des Moro 1

“The Migjorn area (in the south of the island) boasts some of the most stunning beaches on the Mallorcan coastline. The largest and busiest beach in the area is Cala Llombards, surrounded by pine forests. However, I recommend seeking out Es Caló des Moro – a secluded bay just 30 metres long and 20 metres wide, with clear turquoise water and white sand. Get there early in July and August, but generally throughout the year, it’s possible to have the whole beach to yourself. The beach has no tourist facilities, so don’t forget to pack your own delicious picnic and bring everything you’ll need for the day.”

Natural Mud Spa, Lluc Alcari Beach

MALLCA-Lluc Alcari Beach 1

“Around a 10 minute drive from the centre of Deia, Luc Alcari beach is set in a secluded cove and is something of a snorkeling haven. However, this beach is known among locals for its natural mineral rich mud next to a fresh water spring. Natural therapy for glowing skin!”

La Reserva Puig de Galatzó Nature Park

MALLCA-La Reserva 1

“This beautiful nature reserve is home to many animals (with a petting area with ponies, goats and sheep for little ones). There are many fun activities for all the family including hiking trails, waterfalls and natural pools. For the more daring, the park offers rock climbing walls and zip lines through the trees. I love having a post-activity picnic – there is a shop selling meat to cook on their complimentary barbecues (these are lit in the morning and remain hot all day for guests to use).”
