The Shopping Night Barcelona 2015, an LFStyle Guide
“To Shop or Not To Shop”…that is the question at this year’s Shopping Night Barcelona event, which is adopting a William Shakespeare theme (last year’s event was focused on the glamour of Hollywood’s Golden Age, whilst 2013 showcased the drama of Wagner’s opera).
“TSNB” (now in its 6th edition) will take place on 3 December from 8pm to the wee small hours, and is set to be one of the highlights of the city’s winter calendar. The Shopping Night is the brainchild of the “Friends of Passeig de Gràcia” initiative, who have teamed up with Rabbit PR to create one of the largest scale events in Barcelona (last year’s event attracted nearly 70,000 visitors).
Once again, the boutiques and businesses along Paseo de Gracia (and several intersecting streets) will throw open their doors for a joyous soirée of festive fun, fashion and feasting. Nearly every shop along the lengthy, iconic shopping boulevard will participate, offering juicy promotions (usually accompanied by complimentary drinks, an in-house DJ and occasionally a goodie bag filled with tempting samples and treats!).
Throughout November, in the run-up to the night itself there will be an array of introductory Shakespeare themed concerts and plays including a Tribute to Lady Macbeth at the lavish Gran Teatre del Liceu, Top Girls at the Theatre Akademi and Le Petit inspired by Shakespeare at the Royal Artistic Circle.
This year, the organisers have really gone to town with the theme, splitting the Paseo and surrounding streets into 9 individual spaces, each dedicated to one of Shakespeare’s great works, creating a journey of sorts through the bard’s most iconic plays from Romeo & Juliet to Hamlet, with a broader selection of cultural offerings than ever before…
