Don’t Try This At Home: Xtrem Aquàtic Sitges 2015

On the 19th September 2015, Xtrem Sitges Moto Club will host the second edition of the Xtrem Aquàtic, a dramatic and unique off-road motorcycle race. Inaugurated in 2014, this alternative off-road endurance event is held annually in the disused Paradise Water Park just outside Sitges town centre. The event promises “a party on two wheels” and looks set to be a great show, with fun for drivers and audience alike! This year’s theme is innovation, with a brand new category dedicated to electric motorcycles.

One of Catalonia’s most mythical abandoned urban spaces, the Sitges Aquatic Paradise has been disused since the early 1990s, and provides a dystopic, eery backdrop as well as a series of challenging, exciting courses.

We are delighted to be sponsoring yet another high profile sporting competition, hot off the heels of ‘The Barcelona Big Bang’, Barcelona’s newest fast car event, which Lucas Fox also helped organise. Catalunya is increasingly becoming a sought-after destination for exciting extreme sports pursuits and Lucas Fox is proud to play a part.

A total of 150 fearless riders (professionals, amateurs, enthusiasts and daredevils extraordinaire) will set off, divided into 6 categories: Cadet, Junior, Senior, Master, Electric and ELITE. The races themselves will range from exhilarating twists and turns (ergo death-defying) , to a tamer enclosed (flat) dirt track for kids.

Last year’s event drew an audience of over 8,000 motorcycle aficionados as well as those unfamiliar with the sport and families, making it the most visited sporting event in Sitges’ history. 2014 was deemed a roaring success among visitors and locals alike, generating an unprecedented platform for the sport as well as local brands in the area.
